About WATTBA
What does WATTBA stand for?
WATTBA stands for What A Time To Be Alive. Developments in AI, robotics, computing power and biotech are following one another ever faster. This site tries to follow the road to the technological singularity.
Why this site?
Most important news about AI appears first in English, and a large part of it barely reaches the Dutch media, or reaches them late. WATTBA fills that gap: reports on what is happening internationally, with links to the original sources. The English edition brings these reports to English-speaking readers.
How WATTBA works
The articles on WATTBA are written with the help of AI. The final editor chooses the topics and the sources; on that basis the AI writes a Dutch text, in its own words and always with links to the sources.
The AI never publishes anything itself. Every Dutch article is checked and approved before publication by a human final editor, who is also responsible for what appears. Anything that is not good enough is rewritten or rejected.
The English edition is translated from the Dutch originals with AI. The Dutch text is the authoritative version.
Alongside current news, historical articles are also published: milestones from the history of computers and AI, described as if they had been news at the time. These articles carry the date of the event itself, for example 1770 or 1950.
Many of the images accompanying the articles are illustrations created with AI. Where necessary, a credit appears beneath an image.
Mistakes are corrected openly: when we make a correction, we amend the article and note the change with an updated time.
How do we handle sources?
Articles are written in our own words and always link to the original source or sources, usually in English. A report never replaces that source: read the original if you want to know exactly. The sources are listed at the end of each article under “Sources”. Spotted a mistake? Let us know and it will be corrected, with the change noted by an updated time.
